Due to the fact we are a relatively small elementary school, this will impact a&nbsp;majority of the school. In order to reduce the number of students in each class, and be in compliance with the Ministry of Education's expectations, we have had to reorganize our classroom arrangements.&nbsp; &nbsp;As we mentioned in our initial electronic Newsletter to families, reorganization will take place in the second week of school, and will look very different from the first week.<br> </span></span></p> <p><span><strong><span>Our New Classroom Organization is as follows:</span></strong></span></p> <p><span><strong><span>JK/SK -L. Richards</strong></span></span></p> <p><span><span>The name of the our new Gr. 2/3 teacher will be known toward the end of the week after HR places them in this new assignment.&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p><span><span>Within the next day or 2, families will be notified of their child's new classroom placement (if applicable), and on the afternoon of Friday Sept. 15th, students will be able to set up in their new prospective classrooms with their new teacher.&nbsp; Effective&nbsp;Monday September 18, students enter their new classroom and officially begin the year with their new teacher.</span></span></p> <p><span><span>This is a great news as we were hoping to reduce the number of students in our larger classes.&nbsp; However, this does come with the difficult decision of moving students from some current classes to form new classes. We understand that this is not ideal, and we are aware that&nbsp;nobody wants to move, however, we cannot have smaller class sizes without moving students to recreate this.&nbsp; Please know that due to the tight turn around time, we are not taking parent requests/considerations.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ms. Barrett and I will look carefully at all of the class lists today and&nbsp; families will be informed on Thursday if your child is will be starting in a new class. <p><span>Hello&nbsp;Sydenham PS&nbsp;Families,&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span>It is time to start thinking about this year’s School Advisory Council (SAC)!&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span>We will have positions open on the Council executive for the 23/24 school year, your help is needed!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span>Sydenham PS&nbsp;is fortunate to have great support from guardians and family members who contribute as volunteers in many capacities.&nbsp;&nbsp;There are opportunities to suit whatever your interest may be, and to accommodate the amount of time you are able to commit.&nbsp;&nbsp;Many of our council members work outside of the home and have limited&nbsp;time frames. <span><br> </span> <p><span>Dear Sydenham Families,</span></p> <p><span>It has been my great pleasure and an honor to serve as Vice-Principal of Sydenham P.S. these past four years. I will cherish many fond memories of my time at Sydenham, which says a great deal about the strength of this community since we had to weather several "storms" during this period - labour disruptions and the pandemic, to name the big ones! ("Sydenham Storm" pun fully intended, sorry!)</span></p> <p><span>I have deeply appreciated and valued the support and kind words from families and my colleagues as I have had to take some time off to attend to my health and that of my family. While I will miss the beautiful little school that is Sydenham, I am ready for my next adventure at Loughborough P.S., which brings me closer to home.</span></p> <p><span>I would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the students, staff, and families at Sydenham P.S. Keep up the great work you are doing to learn, to be kind, and to take care of each other. I would also like to give a very special thank you to the admin team of Ms. Barrett and Ms. MacDonald who have done such a wonderful job of taking over while I have been away.
